Christmas Island armed guards claim is 'another lie from the media'
Sky News host Chris Kenny says it’s “cruel” and “obscene” to report that a four-year-old Sri Lankan girl is being escorted to-and-from school on Christmas Island by armed guards.
Mr Kenny said according to the Department of Home Affairs “the claim escorting staff are armed is not true”.
The claim that the girl is being escorted by armed guards has been reported by some ABC journalists.
“It’s just another lie from the media when it comes to refugee and border protection policies,” Mr Kenny said.
“We've had false claims from the ABC about our navy torturing refugees, we've had rape claims on Nauru aired by the ABC that police investigations have found to be fake… and even now, once more, we have these false claims about armed guards.
“And they wonder why people don't trust the media.”...

Millions of flame red crabs flooded Western Australia’s Christmas Island at the start of their annual migration. As the crabs left their homes to make their way to the ocean to breed, roads on the island were closed to ensure a safe journey. A crab bridge was specially built to help the creatures cross safely on wider carriageways.
